      • Limit sun exposure and tanning.

      • Avoid getting any type of facial.

      • Keep lips hydrated and avoid chapping.

      • If your lips are chapped at the time of your appointment, please reach out to reschedule. Chapped lips can result in difficulty numbing and uneven results. Rescheduling fees may apply if not notified in advance.

    • 1 Week Before & After Your Appointment (Lip-Specific Precare):

      • If you have a history of cold sores, Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV), Chicken Pox, or Shingles, obtain a prescription for Valtrex, Zovirax, or Acyclovir to prevent cold sores from appearing due to lip blushing.

      • Even if you have never experienced these conditions, you may still want to get a prescription as a preventative measure. Not pre-medicating increases the risk of a cold sore outbreak.

      • Consider purchasing Medela Purelan Lanolin Nipple Cream for aftercare to help prevent chapping, flaking, and scabbing.

    • 24 Hours Before Your Appointment:

      • No blood-thinning medication or supplements (Aspirin, Advil, Aleve, Coumadin, Naproxen, Vitamin E, Turmeric, Fish Oil).

      • No alcohol.

    • Morning of Your Appointment:

      • No caffeine (coffee or caffeinated teas, as they thin the blood and may increase bleeding).

    • 8 Weeks Before Your Appointment:

      • Discontinue use of lash or growth serums (these increase blood flow, which can lead to excess bleeding).

    • 4 Weeks Before Your Appointment:

      • No chemical peels, microneedling, or aggressive exfoliation.

      • No Botox (booking too close to your PMU session can cause shifting and uneven settling).

      • Stop using any skincare actives (Retinol/Retinoids, Vitamin C, Glycolic Acid, AHA/BHAs, Niacinamide, brightening products).

      • Limit sun exposure and tanning.

      • Avoid getting any type of facial.

      • No lash lifts or tints (also avoid for 2 weeks after your appointment).

    • 1 Week Before Your Appointment:

      • Remove any lash extensions and do not refill them for at least 2 weeks after your appointment.

Contraindications

    • People with Diabetes (Diabetes causes slower healing, meaning increased risk of pigment loss and infection.)

    • People with allergies to makeup or pigments

    • People with easily triggered post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (If you are prone to hyperpigmentation, please note that tattooing can cause this as a reaction, and can affect the color of the healed result)

    • People with HIV or Hepatitis

    • People who are epileptic

    • People with auto-immune diseases

    • Any use of AHAs/BHAs (Lactic, Glycolic, Citric, Retinoic, Hyaluronic, and Tartaric acids) or any OTC creams or lotions for tone correcting, anti-aging or chemical exfoliating can fade or discolor your tattoo. Discontinue use of these products 4 weeks before your tattoo.

    • People who have extremely oily or problematic skin.

      • You can get PMU done, but you may experience slower healing, and more pigment loss, meaning you may need more touch ups.

    • Lash extensions: Get extensions removed before getting an eyeliner procedure.

    • Flu/cold, or other viral infections or diseases: Please stay home. Reach out to reschedule your appointment as soon as you begin to feel sick.

    • Cancer/Chemo patients: Doctor’s clearance is necessary.

    • Laser eye surgery: Wait 3 months before getting the eyeliner procedure. All other services are fine.

    • Juvederm or Hyaluronic Acid fillers: Get your PMU first, or ask your filler administrator for clearance. Wait at least 4 weeks between your last filler appointment and your PMU appointment.

    • Lips with hyaluronic acid filler may swell more because of the hyaluronic acid pulling in more water, causing more swelling.

    • Getting PMU too soon after a filler appointment may cause your filler to shift and settle unevenly.

    • People with Botox: Wait at least 4 weeks after your last Botox session.

    • People with Shingles: If you have shingles on your face, wait several months before getting permanent makeup.

    • Eye lift or Blepharoplasty: Wait 3 months before your permanent makeup appointment.

    • Pinkeye: Wait until infection has cleared and all medication has been taken.

    • People who have a history of cold sores, Herpes Simplex Virus, Shingles, or Chicken Pox: You must be premedicated with an antiviral prescription drug (Zoviraz, Valtrex, Acyclovir) prior to lip blushing to prevent a cold sore flare up.

    • L-lysine supplements can help a cold sore outbreak, but do not replace being premedicated on a prescribed antiviral. Ask your doctor about dosage, especially if combining with prescribed medication.

    • People who have had any surgeries in the last 6 weeks, or 6 months in the case of organ transplants.

    • People under the age of 18

    • People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or lactating

    • People with Glaucoma, or people on blood thinning medication

    • People with Psoriasis, Eczema, or irritation (sunburn, acne, rashes, blisters) on or near the area to be tattooed.

    • People with active skin cancer in the area to be tattooed.

    • Hemophiliacs

    • People with healing disorders, Pacemakers, Stents, uncontrolled high blood pressure, Mitral Valve Disease, or other heart conditions.

    • People on skin medications (Accutane, steroids that thin and sensitize the skin)

    • If you have used Accutane, wait at least 1 year before booking a PMU service.

    • If you have used Doxycycline, wait at least 2 months.

    • People with an allergy to Lidocaine, Epinephrine, or topical anesthetics

    • People who have had joint replacement or implants. (This can increase your potential for allergic reactions to inks/pigments)

    • People with a tendency towards keloids or scarring.

    • People with Seborrheic Dermatitis

    • People with Trichotillomania
